Ginzburg Legal — Montréal office

About Us

A Firm Built Around Organised Thinking

Ginzburg Legal was founded on the idea that most organisational problems — the ones that slow teams down, cause confusion, or generate unnecessary friction — have clearer paperwork and better structure at their root.

Our Story

Ginzburg Legal was established in Montréal to address a gap that kept appearing across early and growth-stage companies: founders who were well ahead on product and customer development, but several steps behind on how their organisation was documented and operated internally.

The problem was not that people were careless. It was that no one had explained what a well-organised company looks like on paper, how internal knowledge should be stored and maintained, or what a proper operating structure involves. These things are rarely taught, and the cost of not knowing them tends to become visible at the worst possible times.

Our programmes were built to fill that gap — structured, time-bound, and focused on practical outputs rather than general advice. We work with founders and operating teams across Québec and wider Canada, in English.

Our Mission

To make the administrative and operational side of running a company more legible — so that founders and their teams can spend less time improvising and more time building.

Our Values

  • Clarity over complexity. We write plainly and deliver things that can be understood without a specialist.
  • Scope honesty. We are clear about what our programmes cover and what they do not. We do not advise on regulated matters.
  • Practical outputs. Every engagement ends with something your team can use — a template, a knowledge base, a written operating model.
  • Proportionate delivery. Our programmes are priced and scoped for early and growth-stage companies, not for enterprise budgets.

How We Work

Standards we hold ourselves to across every programme and engagement.

Signed Engagement Letters

Every engagement begins with a written letter that confirms scope, deliverables, timeline, and pricing. Nothing is ambiguous before work starts.

Confidentiality Agreements

All advisory engagements are covered by a confidentiality agreement signed before any information is exchanged. Client materials are never used without explicit permission.

Clear Scope Boundaries

We are explicit about what each programme covers. We do not advise on regulated or licensed matters, and we say so clearly when a question falls outside our scope.

Follow-Up Reviews

Our Growth-Stage Operations Advisory includes a scheduled review session at the three-month mark. We check whether the operating model we designed together is functioning as intended.

Data Handling

Client documents and materials shared during engagements are stored securely and accessible only to the members named in the engagement letter. We follow Canadian privacy standards.

Written Deliverables

Every programme produces written outputs — templates, article sets, or an operating model document — rather than verbal advice alone. You leave with something tangible in hand.

Expertise in Organisational Structure and Documentation

Founders who build documentation habits early tend to encounter fewer friction points as their companies grow. When records are well-kept, onboarding new people takes less time. When decision authority is written down, fewer things get decided twice. When a knowledge base exists, the same question does not need to be answered from scratch each time it comes up.

Ginzburg Legal works with companies at the point where these habits can still be built in, rather than retrofitted at significant cost later. Our programmes are sized and scoped for teams at the early and growth stages — typically between five and fifty people — operating in sectors where documentation and internal process clarity matter: professional services, technology, consulting, and similar fields.

Our approach draws on established practices in records management, information architecture, and organisational design. None of what we deliver is proprietary or complex for its own sake — the value is in applying a structured method to your specific situation rather than improvising.

We are based in Vieux-Montréal and serve clients across the greater Montréal area and beyond by video call. All programmes are delivered in English. If you are building a company in Québec and want to understand how your organisation should be organised on paper, Ginzburg Legal is a straightforward first conversation to have.
